DELRAY BEACH, Fla. – Delray Medical Center has officially opened its new third floor addition, adding 31 new beds and expanding hospital capacity from 372 beds to 403 beds. The new $4 million unit will house the hospital’s surgical/orthopedic and physical therapy services. With the new unit, the hospital’s surgical and orthopedic services will relocate from the first floor to the third floor and the vacated area will be renovated and converted into a medical telemetry unit.
“Delray Medical Center is meeting the demands of the growing community it serves through several planned hospital expansions,” says Chief Executive Officer Mitch Feldman. “The new unit not only enhances our capabilities, it also adds some greatly needed space and beds. The timing couldn’t be better, as we head into our busiest time of year.”
The hospital’s administrative team worked with medical staff, nursing personnel, ancillary staff and nursing leaders to design the new unit. Their ideas contributed to the design, color, layout and construction of the third floor addition.
This expansion follows the opening of the hospital’s third cardiac catheterization laboratory. The new lab replaces the original lab that opened with the hospital more than two decades ago. Further enhancing its comprehensive cardiac program, Delray Medical Center also recently added a 64TM Slice CT Scanner for faster, clearer results in the diagnosis and treatment of coronary artery disease.
