DELRAY BEACH, Fla. – (September 29, 2005) – Delray Medical Center has been honored as the Greater Delray Beach Chamber of Commerce’s 2005 Business of the Year. The award is presented annually to an organization, regardless of size, that best demonstrates a proven track record, economic achievement, record growth, innovativeness of product or service, response to adversity and significant contributions to the community.

According to Feldman, the ongoing national recognition earned by Delray Medial Center for its medical excellence spotlights the value the hospital brings to the community it serves and South Florida in general. In 2005, the hospital was named one of the nation’s 100 Top Hospitals by Solucient, a leading healthcare information company, for a fourth consecutive year. Delray Medical Center has also been recognized with the Distinguished Hospital Award for Clinical Excellence by HealthGrades, a leading national health care quality group for the past three years.

The hospital was presented the Business of the Year Award for 2005 during the Greater Delray Beach Chamber of Commerce’s Luminary Gala, which celebrated excellence in leadership. Other categories included: Business Recognition, Ken Ellingsworth Community Service and Small Business Person of the Year. The selection committee is comprised of past Small Business Person of the Year recipients.
