Delray Medical Center’s Cardiac Program was named Hospital-Based Program of the Year during the South Florida Business Journal’s 7th Annual Excellence in Healthcare Awards luncheon. The Awards program honors healthcare providers that have successfully implemented creative programs and practices to meet the challenges faced by the healthcare industry in a variety of settings.

            The Heart Center at Delray Medical Center is a full-service cardiac program, providing cardiac care from diagnosis through treatment. The Heart Center offers three cardiac catheterization labs, chest pain services and around-the-clock care by affiliated board certified cardiologists, cardiac surgeons and, cardiac registered nurses and technicians.

            The hospital received the HealthGrades’ Distinguished Hospital Award for Clinical Excellence three years in succession (2003, 2004, and 2005) and placed among the top five percent of all hospitals in the U.S. for clinical quality outcomes and performance.  HealthGrades also awarded Delray Medical Center the first annual 2005 Cardiac Care Excellence Award. The award recognizes hospitals that rank in the top 10 percent in the nation for overall cardiac services.

            Delray Medical Center has been named one of the nation’s 100 Top Hospitals by Solucient, a leading source of health care business intelligence, and remains the only hospital in the state of Florida to make the list four years in a row.

            The hospital also supports The Mended Hearts, Inc., a national nonprofit volunteer support group dedicated in providing help, encouragement and support to heart disease patients and their families.
