Designated as a Primary Stroke Center by The Joint Commission, Delray's Neuroscience Center specializes in disorders of the nervous system.  For children and adults, we provide advanced emergency care, diagnostics, surgery and treatment for neurological conditions including stroke, trauma, spinal cord injuries, brain tumors, sleep disorders and back pain.  Pinecrest Rehabilitation Hospital on our campus provides rehab care.

With a dedicated Neuro Intensive Care Unit, the Neuroscience Center has advanced technology and offers minimally invasive procedures and a wide range of treatment options.

Neuro-Trauma

As a state-designated Level II adult and pediatric Trauma Center for south Palm Beach County, Delray has specially trained surgeons and nurses who care for seriously injured patients.  We work in conjunction with Palm Beach County's trauma system, have highly trained teams of physicians and nurses and 24/7 surgical capabilities.  Our Neuro Intensive Care Unit has eight beds.

Spinal Cord, Brain Tumor Surgery

We provide rapid intervention and help for those suffering from tumors of the brain and spinal cord. Our team will develop an individualized aftercare program designed to help restore patients to optimum capability.  

Spinal Disorders

Since spinal disorders can be complex, our patients are carefully evaluated to identify the problem and determine the appropriate treatment procedure. Intervention may require surgical or non-surgical treatment. Whatever the treatment, our focus is to restore the greatest possible mobility  We offer many choices for the treatment of back pain.  Here are some available options. 

• Spinal stimulators--electrical pulse on the surface of  the spinal cord to reduce pain.
• Pain pump--attached pump delivers medication directly to the area of pain.
• Kyphoplasty--minimally invasive surgery for treating compression fractures caused by osteoporosis or cancer.
• Herniated disc micro-surgery--may restore degenerated disc space to or near its original height.

New O-Arm Technology
Delray has the only Intra-Operative O-Armª Imaging System in Florida.  This advanced technology brings real-time, 3-D images, as well as multi-plane, 2-D and fluoroscopic imaging, to the surgical suite. Surgeons can view images taken during a procedure without patients having to leave the operating room.
