The lifesaving work of the Trauma Center at Delray Medical Center goes on 24 hours a day. At times, the results of that work may seem nothing short of miraculous. But miracles don't just happen. The men and women of our Trauma Center have advanced skills, and that's one reason we're a state designated Level II trauma center for adults and children in south Palm Beach County.
The Trauma Center has specially-trained surgeons and nurses, 24-hour surgical capabilities and an eight-bed Trauma Intensive Care Unit. And once the immediate crisis has passed, the trauma team is ready to help rebuild the life of not only the patient, but of the patient's family - all of whom suffer when trauma strikes, and who need to be treated with compassion and sensitivity.
The Trauma Center is something we hope you'll never need. And we offer the following prevention advice to help you stay well. But should the worst happen, we're here to do our best for you.
Trauma Prevention Tips - Wear your safety belt every time you get in the car. - Use approved safety seats for children. - Never drive under the influence of drugs or alcohol. - Adults and children should wear approved helmets when riding bikes. - Install and maintain a smoke detector in your home, changing the battery annually. - Stop, drop and roll if your clothes catch fire. - Keep any household products that may be poisonous out of the reach of children.
