, 2009 almost 80 golfers participated in the first annual Delray Medical Center Auxiliary Golf Tournament. Held at Delray Beach Golf Club, the tournament raised approximately $14,000, which will benefit the hospital’s scholarship fund that provides assistance to local students enrolled at accredited colleges and universities pursuing a career in healthcare.
“Our first Delray Medical Center Auxiliary Golf Tournament was a great success thanks to the involvement of a dedicated committee, which was chaired by Becky McCoy,” said Robert Krieger, CEO of Delray Medical Center. “We greatly appreciate the support of Delray Beach Golf Club, as well as the many local companies and individuals for their donations and participation.”
The tournament included 18 holes of golf, player favors and prizes, breakfast and lunch, as well as a silent auction. The Delray Medical Center Auxiliary Scholarship Fund awards scholarships to children of Delray Medical Center employees and DMC teen volunteers based on specific academic standards, demonstrated leadership, community and school activities, and financial need. In 2009, approximately $12,000 in scholarship monies was awarded to high school students.
