DAISY award recognizes extraordinary nurses

DELRAY BEACH, FL -- To recognize the hospital's extraordinary nurses, Delray Medical Center announced its second quarter 2010 DAISY award winner and finalists.

Chosen from 46 nominations is winner Sherry Custary, Trauma Intensive Care Unit. Maureen Miller and Bonnie Holley, Intermediate Care Unit/Heart Health, and Esther Bien-Aime, Progressive Care Unit, are finalists. All the nurses were recognized for their education, training, skill, judgment and compassionate care, which truly make a difference in the lives of so many patients.

Numerous hospitals and medical facilities around the country participate in The DAISY Awards. Nurse administrators, peers, physicians and patients choose the recipients each quarter. As of July, 2009, over 4,500 nurses have received The DAISY Award.

Since it takes a team to provide great patient care, Delray physicians, nurses and staff enjoyed Cinnabon® cinnamon rolls during the presentation. Delray hung a banner to celebrate The DAISY Award honors and the nursing profession.

“Delray Medical Center is proud to celebrate our DAISY Award nominees and winner Sherry Custary,” said Delray Medical Center Chief Nursing Officer Audrey Gregory. “We always strive to recognize our nurses, who take pride in the nursing profession and work very hard to provide quality care to our patients.”

The DAISY award is sponsored by Cinnabon's franchisees whose parent company, FOCUS Brands, is Premier Sponsor.  The awards are co-sponsored in several hospitals by families and companies including the Angels Baseball Foundation, Hill-Rom, Johnson & Johnson's Campaign For Nursing's Future, NovaVine, Sam’s Club, UnitedHealthcare, U.S. Airways, Wells Fargo and Wellington Vineyards.
