Delray Medical Center offers progressive, high-quality inpatient psychiatric programs for adults at Fair Oaks Pavilion, a 53-bed psychiatric center on campus. Dynamic, caring professionals work in harmony to help improve quality of life for those with acute or chronic psychiatric disorders, addictions, or other conditions requiring therapeutic intervention.

Programs include inpatient care for persons with emotional disorders, including dual diagnosis (emotional disorder combined with chemical dependence), Medical Detoxification, Geriatric Program, and Electro-Convulsive Therapy.

Inpatient Program

Designed to address a variety of emotional disorders, including a dual diagnosis, this structured, nurturing environment provides close observation and treatment while promoting a higher level of independence.

Goals include:

  • Becoming a stronger decision-maker
  • Enhancing social skills and self-esteem
  • Emerging from self-solation
  • Developing independent functioning

Upon admission patients receive a psychiatric and medical evaluation. Using this information, a professional, multi-disciplinary team of affiliated physicians, licensed psychiatric nurses, Master's level therapists, mental health counselors, and clinical case managers develop an individualized treatment plan.

Treatment plans include:

  • Leisure activities
  • Group discussions
  • Individualized therapy
  • Education programs
  • Family sessions
  • Discharge planning

Medical Detoxification Program

In a supportive setting, the Medical Detoxification Program offers medical and professional support needed to help patients achieve stability, while working through addictive and compulsive behaviors. Our professional, multidisciplinary staff understands the needs of those with substance abuse problems. Upon admission, medical and psychiatric physicians evaluate patients for stabilization and detoxification.

Electro-Convulsive Therapy (ECT)

Electro-Convulsive Therapy (ECT) is a medical treatment available for patients experiencing mental or emotional symptoms including severe depression. ECT consists of brief electrical stimulation of nerve cells within the brain to release chemicals that may help restore normal functioning. Treatment is typically provided three days a week depending on the patient’s individual needs. This can also be performed as an outpatient procedure. The ECT Suite is designed and equipped for comfortable, professional patient care. Before treatment, patients and families receive detailed information and education.
