Our Pledge

Our goal is to offer the best possible patient care and customer service. We are committed to this goal and to exceeding your expectations.

When you arrive at the Emergency Department you will be asked for the minimum information necessary to begin your chart. If an exam room is available, you will be taken directly there. Otherwise, you will be asked to remain in the reception area.

Upon arrival, a registered nurse will see you. This is the beginning of your medical treatment. The triage nurse will ask the reason for your visit, inquire about your medical history and perform a brief exam. Triage helps determine the severity of your condition and helps ensure the most urgent patients are seen by a physician first. This is why someone who arrives after you may be taken into the treatment area before you.

The testing process begins in the treatment area. All patients are examined by an ER physician. Your nurse may start an IV, obtain a blood or urine sample or send you for an X-ray or other diagnostic tests if necessary.

During your visit we encourage you to have a friend or loved one stay with you. Other friends or family members may remain in the waiting area. There may be times when we ask your visitor to step out of the room and wait elsewhere, because patient confidentiality and privacy are important to us. We will keep your visitors informed if you wish.

Emergency Services at Delray Medical CenterPatients are seen based on the severity of their illness, and our goal is to keep your wait times to a minimum. However, occasionally our rooms are full and ambulances are arriving in the back, so waiting for treatment can take longer than we would like. Be assured that you are our first priority. If your condition changes while you are waiting, please inform the nurse immediately.

Once all test results are received, you will be re-evaluated. Based on test results and your condition, you may be discharged or admitted to the hospital. Your private physician will be contacted to help in this decision. If you do not have a physician, one will be assigned to you from our on-call list of specialists.

When you are discharged, you will be given written after-care instructions to follow at home. It is important for you to follow-up with your private physician or the referral physician.

Patient Satisfaction

We are committed to providing quality care and achieving the highest levels of patient satisfaction. To help us meet this goal, you may be contacted to participate in a patient survey shortly after your visit. Your response to this survey is an important part of our continuous efforts to meet our commitment to you.
