If you have persistent, non-healing wounds as a result of diabetes, poor circulation, burns, surgery or trauma, our Wound Treatment Center is here for you. Our interdisciplinary approach provides patients with a comprehensive evaluation and treatment plan using some of the latest available techniques for wound healing. Physician specialists and experienced nurses provide a personalized plan of care, complete with lifestyle counseling and prevention education.

Located on the Delray Medical Center campus in Palm Court Plaza, we offer easy accessibility and a team of experts with years of experience in wound treatment.

Risk Factors

There are many factors that lead to the development of non-healing wounds, including:

  • Decreased blood flow to the legs and feet
  • Diabetes
  • Immobility
  • Incontinence
  • Neuropathy (burning, tingling or lack of sensation in the feet)
  • Poor nutrition
  • Smoking

 Signs & Symptoms

Common signs and symptoms that may accompany chronic, non-healing wounds and indicate that you may need our specialized services are:

  • Excessive swelling of the legs
  • Non-healing wounds (more than several weeks)
  • Pain with walking
  • Poor or no pulses in feet or legs
  • Rash around the wound site
  • Temperature or color change in the feet

Conditions That May Require Treatment

  • Any wound that fails to improve with standard treatment
  • Diabetic foot ulcers
  • Failing or compromised skin/muscle grafts or flaps
  • Gangrene
  • Lower leg ulcers
  • Pressure ulcers
  • Osteomyelitis
  • Post-operative infections
  • Radiation burns
  • Slow or non-healing surgical wounds
  • Skin tears or lacerations

Types Of Treatment Wound Treatment Center at Delray Medical Center

VAC (negative pressure therapy)

  • VAC is a system that uses controlled negative pressure to help promote wound healing.

Compression Therapy

  • Compression boots are used to treat leg and foot ulcers that result from conditions such as venous insufficiency and stasis.
