Delray Medical Center and Tenet Health’s Palm Beach Group Appoint New Chief Operating Officer

Delray Beach, Fla - November 27th 2018 - Delray Medical Center names Stephen Garner as its Chief Operating Officer beginning in 2019, and he will also be the Group COO for Tenet Health’s Palm Beach hospitals. In this role, Garner will manage the daily operations and oversee the development and implementation of long-range plans, goals and objectives for Delray Medical Center in addition to helping to coordinate the same for Good Samaritan Medical Center, Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center, St. Mary’s Medical Center and West Boca Medical Center.

Garner previously worked for sister hospital Abrazo Arrowhead Hospital, a nationally-recognized 217-bed acute care hospital in Arizona, where he was the COO for the last three years. He led and completed various construction and operational projects, including a $4M Operating Room expansion, a $2M Interventional Radiology suite renovation, multiple DaVinci robot purchases and installs, and other equipment upgrades such as an O-Arm and Navio robot. Along with nursing leadership, Stephen was instrumental in implementing the first physician co-management program in the Abrazo network, raising the efficiency and quality for electrophysiology at Abrazo Arizona Heart and Abrazo Arrowhead. He also designed and implemented new safety culture enhancements, including executive departmental safety rounds, lean, and Glass Wall that led to AHRQ safety scores in the top 15 in Tenet in 2016 and 2017. During his tenure, Abrazo Arrowhead Hospital won Tenet’s prestigious Circle of Excellence Award twice.

Prior to his promotion to COO, Garner served in Tenet Healthcare’s Executive Development Program at Abrazo Arrowhead. He also completed a seven-month residency at RegionalCare Hospital Partners in Tennessee.

Garner holds a Master of Business Administration, Juris Doctorate, and Bachelor of Business Administration degrees from Baylor University.
