Instructions for use for COVID-19 confirmed and suspected patient

Hospital Worker wearing PPE
  1. Gloves
    • Extend to cover wrist of isolation gown, cover thumb hole on gown if present
    • Glove changes may be required during a patient visit as needed to perform clean procedures
    • Gloves are single-use and should be discarded after each use
    • Remove first when doffing
  2. Face Shield
    • Wear full face shield
    • Be sure shield is pulled down to completely cover the face
    • Remove second when doffing
  3. Gown
    • Fully cover torso from neck to knees, arms to end of wrists, and wrap around the back
    • Fasten in back of neck and waist
    • Take care when removing gown as it may be soiled
    • Remove third when doffing
  4. Face Mask
    • Secure ties or elastic bands behind the ears
    • Fit flexible band to nose bridge
    • Fit snug to face and below chin
    • Must be properly face fit and correct size
    • Perform hand hygiene before removing respirator
    • Remove fourth when doffing
Personal protective equipment (PPE) use is required to enter the patient care environment and to provide patient care.
Perform hand hygiene immediately before donning and immediately after doffing PPE.
PPE only requires red bag trash if is visibly soiled with blood.
