Christmas Miracle: Call of the Quarter

Mar 18, 2024

Back on Christmas morning, 2022, around 5 A.M., Sally Peters found her husband, Hal Davidson, fighting for his life on the bathroom floor. She called 911. When Delray Beach Fire Rescue responded, they knew it could very well be a stroke.

Their team alerted our team at #delraymedicalcenter, a Certified Stroke Center, so they could prepare the operating room. The faster you can treat a stroke, the better off the patient does. That initial hour after a stroke is called the Golden Hour for a reason.

Not every hospital is a Certified Stroke Center, so calling 911 does two things: makes sure you are brought to a Certified Stroke Center, and, like in this case, the first responders can alert the hospital before the patient is there so everything is in place to start operating right away.

Today, Hal has made a near full recovery and we honored the fire department for their fast acting, life-saving work.
