Delray Medical Receives Healthgrades Awards for Women’s Services

Jun 24, 2015

Recognitions demonstrate hospital’s commitment to excellence in providing health services for women

Delray Beach, Fla. (June 25, 2015) – Delray Medical Center is proud to accept the Healthgrades 2015 Women’s Health Excellence Award™ and to Rank Among Top 5% in the Nation for Women’s Health. These recognitions distinguish Delray Medical Center as a top performing hospital in women’s health across the nation.

“We are honored to receive such prestigious distinctions seven years in a row,” says hospital CEO Mark Bryan. “These awards demonstrate our longstanding commitment to providing outstanding care to women of all ages in the community.”

Healthgrades is the leading online resource for comprehensive information about physicians and hospitals. Healthgrades 2015 Women’s Health Excellence Award recipient hospitals have the potential to save women’s lives. For the report, Healthgrades compared Women’s Health Excellence Award recipients as a group to those hospitals eligible for the award but did not receive it, and found from 2011-2013:

  • Women undergoing procedures where complications are the measured outcome at recipient hospitals, have, on average, a 9.6% lower risk of experiencing a complication while in the hospital if they are treated at a hospital that received the award.
  • Women being treated for mortality based conditions at recipient hospitals have, for in-hospital mortality, on average, a 31.6% lower risk of dying than if treated at a hospital that received the award.

“The identification and treatment of medical conditions for women is very different than diagnosing and treating men, therefore it is vitally important that women understand their risks and select a hospital accordingly,” said Evan Marks, chief strategy officer, Healthgrades. “The Healthgrades 2015 Women’s Health Excellence Award recipients have demonstrated exceptional performance and a dedicated approach to delivering superior quality care for women.”

Delray Medical Center’s Women’s Care Center offers comprehensive care and inpatient and outpatient diagnostic and treatment services. The center provides women with breast health, osteoporosis, digital mammography and pelvic ultrasound services.
