Delray Medical Center’s Surgical Weight Loss Program Receives National Accreditation as a Center of Excellence

Delray Beach, Fla. – Delray Medical Center’s Surgical Weight Loss program receives National Accreditation as a Center of Excellence in Bariatrics from Optum Health. Optum’s Clinical Sciences Institute (CSI) awards designations based on clinical quality and cost effectiveness to programs in the United Healthcare network of specialties.

Programs accredited by the Optum Bariatric Centers of Excellence (COEs) perform more successful bariatric procedures than many other facilities nearby. The Optum COEs also have fewer complications and readmissions and offer:

  • 15% lower mortality compared to non-COE providers5
  • 16% lower inpatient hospital readmission5
  • 12% lower reoperation rate for bariatric procedures5
